Do you have a peculiar glistening in your eyes, an additional beat of an already racing heart and a slight quickness of breath? No, you’re not having a heart attack. It’s Fashion Week! We’ll start with New York, because that’s where it begins, although Fashion Week never ends for all of us dedicated fashion devotees. Ready-To-Wear Shows
New York, February 10th, Christian Siriano.
With a show-stopping hot pink faux fur like this one by Christian Siriano and the coordinating thigh high pink boots, you will find every excuse to dine out, visit art openings and spend a night or two at the opera. Plus size models also had the opportunity to shine on the runway. This stunning silver embroidered gown with black draped floor length skirt would create sparks in every Paparazzi’s camera. These are garments crafted to display and flaunt.
London, February 18th, Fashion East
Color, pattern and incredible prints come to mind when considering the talent of Mary Katrantzou. But she has also recreated the contemporary silhouette as seen in her recent Autumn/Winter 2018 RTW show. Constructing a modern hour glass figure, Katrantzou sculpts luxurious fabrics employing expert tailoring. Forward facing pockets set into modified trousers present a cutting-edge line and a novel approach to suiting. Innovation is this designer’s trademark.
Up next: Milan Fashion Week.
We need to know what our favorite designers are presenting every season, but we also want to be surprised by designers who are new to the scene. London Fashion Week always offers some of the most avant-garde creations, pioneers and young talents who may be introducing their fabrications for the first time. Fashion East’s founder and director Lulu Kennedy empowers innovative new fashion designers straight out of college and gives them what they really want…runway time. And are we thankful for that!
